Happy Birthday Jerk Face!

Happy Birthday to my most favorite Jerk Face ever!

{You're cheesy}
--he's not a Penn State fan, he got it while serving a tour in Iraq--

{You're a great Daddy}

{You bear the frigid temperatures to get us a Christmas tree, while LB and I are cozy and warm in the car}
{My Hero}

{You goof off with me}

{You're my man in uniform}

{and I forgive you for being a Bengals fan.... this season}

You're not so bad.
(except for the whole Bengal thing..)
(...that could change...)

..and that's about as lovey-dovey as I get..

Happy Happy Birthday To You!

***I will not be posting a WTF post tomorrow, as my Grandfather passed away***

Pinteresting Things I've Done

I am always on Pinterest looking for new things to try (funny.. I remember, not that long ago, when I thought Pinterest was stupid....).  Usually, they just stay pinned to my boards, and I don't think about them again... but these are the things that I have done:

 ~Hasselback Potatoes~
Mine didn't turn out as pretty:
They taste like fancy french fries.
..I would make them again.. but with fancy burgers..

~Bacon Avocado Grilled Cheese~
We used bacon instead of pepperoni (Jerk Face's choice),
(and no tomatos)
we found it to be a bit bland.
It's a good idea, and we're going to be trying out different versions, I think...

~Macaroni and Goat Cheese~
Made this last night.
Very rich.
..and needs salt..

.:and on to my crafty ways:.

~Burlap Basket~
I saw this, and kind of loved it right away.

I saw (on Pinterest) where a person used a basket at the bottom of the stairs to collect the things that are to go back up the stairs.
*Genius*
(For some reason, I didn't pin it... perhaps because I could remember to do that without pinning it?)
I put my basket to use right away:

That fabric flower?
Made it myself.
(picture me standing tall and proud - with a big ol' smile across my face!)
..I just hope I don't need that button in the future!

--I also lined the inside of the basket with the same material as the flower--

and, lest I forget:
the inspiration for LB's Halloween costume:
and LB's:

(not any kind of pregnancy announcement... it's just true.)

Have you done anything you found on the Pinterest?

All my pins found here.

Tuesday's With LB ~ Elmo Edition

LB has a new television friend. He resides on Sesame Street. You may know him as 'Elmo', but we affectionately refer to him as "Melmo" in this household.

On Saturday, Jerk Face and I were going to watch a play (Les Miserables -- very good!) and out to dinner. My mom and sister watched LB for us.  LB isn't away from us very often, and because of that I decided to buy her an Elmo that morning, so that my mom/sister could bust out if she missed me so much, that she wouldn't stop crying. (I'm sure Melmo would be an acceptable replacement for myself...).
{Side note: Jerk Face doesn't think this is a good way to tackle our leaving... and I don't really either - but I didn't want the night to be miserable for my mom and sister.}

As it turns out, LB was a peach for them, and they didn't have to use the tactic anyways.
The next morning, LB was all about 'Melmo'.. and so instead of waiting for Christmas (like I told Jerk Face we would do if mom/sister didn't use it), we gave it to her:

playing with her toys, when we told her that we had something for her.

...is that...?

I think so!!!!

Melmo?

Melmo!!

Are you real?!

I can't believe this is happening!

He sings?

He sings!!!

This is wonderful!

::kisses::

You are amazing, Melmo!

I can't believe you're really here!!

I don't think I'm dreaming...

I just love my Melmo!

I'm okay with not waiting until Christmas...

Marshmallow Madness?

My Dad always told me:
"You're going to eat so many marshmallows, that you're going to turn into one!"

And I pictured turning into Marshmallow Man from The Ghostbusters.

Which would have been AWESOME!

But looking back on it now..
I know what he meant.

I also know that the 5 pound bag, yes. FIVE POUND BAG of marshmallows I got for Christmas one year... wasn't really meant to be awesome.
It was meant for me to get sick of them.
Which, after only about a handful or two left, I finally did.

and I haven't really eaten many marshmallows since...

...until recently...

I'm on some kind of kick.
And I can't shake it.

Those little puffs of delight.
Nostalgic and sweet.

confession:
I've gone through 2 bags in about a month...
..and they were the BIG bag of miniature marshmallows...
(I don't do the big ones, unless I'm desperate...)
I know I have an issue, and I need an intervention.

confession:
I got up from typing this twice already, to grab a handful of the pillowy morsels.
They're everything that's right in this world.

confession:
I put them in a hard(er) to open container to deter me.
It doesn't work.
I'm smart. I know how to get into it.

confession:
I think I really am going to turn into a marshmallow.
I'm the pastiest, whitest one in my family..
my HAIR is even starting to turn white...
and I'm starting to get fluffy.
I might start to take up sailing, just so I can get the proper garb.

I feel like I've replaced the hole in my heart (and tummy), left from the Newman O's with marshmallows.

and it's no good.
well. It IS good, and that's the problem.
I can fit more in my hand.. and they're squishy, so I can fit more in my mouth.
They're so light - it's almost like I'm eating sugar coated air.
And air has GOT to be healthy, right?

What the Friday?!

{Just a reminder:}

..and now on with the show...

They're all over my house.
They are driving Mojo insane.
They are hors d'oeuvres for LB.
They are:

Asian Lady Beetle Bugs.
what the friday?!

I just don't get why they have to invade homes!
My mom told me that putting a dryer sheet in the window will keep them away.
Last year, my bedroom was swarming with them, and so I put one in the window.. I don't have any in my room... Guess I'll have to put one in every window...
::sigh::
Just when I thought my house was over it's high class and fancy ways...

Jerk Face came home with a cold last week.
I thought LB and I were going to successfully resist it.
unfortunately, LB fell to it's demise about Tuesday-ish, and now I'm getting it.
{just in time for the weekend}
what the friday?!
{the only good thing is that it is the weekend, and Jerk Face will be the one getting up with LB}
{however, she always seems to sleep pretty well on the weekends.}
what the friday?!
(is it wrong that I want Jerk Face to get a little dose of what I go through?)

Tuesday's With LB...

A few weeks ago we went to a little pumpkin patch /slash/ petting zoo /slash/ corn maze with my parents.
When we pulled up, I thought it was going to be a bust.. but we ended up having a pretty good time.
My Dad even got to hold LB for a while... which is rare, because she doesn't really care for men.  (yet?)

{side note about the pony: A bunch of little kids were practically torturing the poor thing, and where was their mother?  Standing on the rope, trying to keep the pony still, so her children could continue torturing it!!!! Not cool, lady. Not cool.}

{side note about this^ pumpkin: Everyone wanted that weird little green, bumpy pumpkin.. but LB got it!}

And we went through the spookiest corn maze ever:

And Look!
It really WAS spooky!!!

Throughout the maze were little stations with stamps... At the end of the maze, you turned your ticket in, and reaped the rewards.
Candy!
(There were only 4 stamps though... boo!)
