Pour Your Heart Out: Drugged

I am linking up for the first time ever with Shell for:

Just a forewarning: This is going to get serious.

As you all probably know... and if you don't, I'll tell you again:

I had my wisdom teeth removed on Friday.

To gain more of your sympathy, I will tell you that I had all 4 of them removed.
Two were labelled as:
Full Bone - Impaction
and two were labelled as:
Full Bone - Difficult
Which I'm pretty sure that means it's terrible - and I should've just kept them.

I'll give you time to say: "oh dear, that is awful!"

....Thank you. I feel better.
*smile*

I have been on pills.
All weekend.

And?

I feel like a shitty mother.

I know it's not my fault, but it still sucks.
I was held captive to the couch Friday, Saturday, and most of Sunday.
All that I could do was enjoy ~foggily~ watching Jerk Face playing with LB.
(and curse him as he ate chips.)

They would laugh...
and LB looked at me
My face hurt as I tried to smile at her.

I remember hearing Jerk Face tell LB that
"Shh! Mommy is sleeping"

She was so good.
Almost like she knew that I was feeling ill.

I know that LB is young and won't remember her "Ma"
being a druggie
not playing
not reading
not rocking her to sleep
not even smiling through a simple game of peek-a-boo
for a few days
but a part of me knows that even small things like this
can shape a child.
Is she going to be a little less happy because I'm not smiling back?
...she seems to be wanting Da-Da more...

~and~

I know that getting your wisdom teeth removed is
one thousand percent
different...
but.

My eyes have been opened to see a new light.
I never thought about how it would be for a mother who is unable to play with her children felt.
I never knew the ache that forms in the heart.
It hit me like a ton of bricks.

Friday night, I was in such a state, that I couldn't even make it up the stairs to sing our bedtime song.
That killed me.
I said a prayer for all parents that are unable to be with their children right then and there.
Unlike so many other parents, I will get better
(hopefully soon)
and will be playing with LB
and reading to her
and getting annoyed by her.

And I can't wait.

Public Service Announcement

Go ahead and do yourself a favor...
Go out and get this ice cream:

RIGHT NOW.
You'll Thank Me!

It's Breyers Triple Chocolate.
Triple Chocolate.
Did you hear me??
Triple.Chocolate.
That's Milk, Dark and White chocolate ice cream.

I haven't been able to eat my regular Dove.
(in the RED package, Jerk Face!)
Wisdom Teeth.
(-- I'll milk it --)
I have been in desperate need of chocolate... and this seriously hit the spot.
I am in love with it so much, I'm actually trying to save it.
As in: NOT eating it all in one sitting.

**And I'll go ahead and do what I see other blogs write:
~This was not a paid advertisement.~
I just found it to be too amazing to keep it to myself!**

Now. Excuse me while I go dish myself some while LB is napping!
Ahh!
This wisdom tooth removal thing might not be so bad...

This Is How We Like To Spend Our Vacations...

Photobucket

I'm linking up with Kim today!
***********************************

And FTLOB
***********************************

Hello Blog-o-verse!
I'm starting to feel a little better... I had my wisdom teeth pulled Friday.
Not a great way to spend your weekend.
And further more.. Not a great way to spend the end of a "vacation"...

I was drugged up for a while. I haven't taken anything since 3:30 this afternoon.. so my head is clear and I can try to write a post before the pain gets too awful again...
I did try to read and comment on your posts over the last few days. If I didn't leave a comment.. I'm sorry -- there's a chance I fell asleep. If I did leave a comment.. I'm sorry -- there's a chance it doesn't make sense.. or it was 1/2 hearted or something like that.

As I mentioned above, this is the end of a "vacation". I use quotations, because Jerk Face and I didn't do anything. I wanted to get some painting done last weekend, and was off to a good start... until I decided to use a stencil.
You should never think that you can stencil a room in one day.

I'll save all of that for another day.
I was working on my pantry, and although it is mostly done..
It's not complete.
And I want to show you all the finished product.

Aside from painting, we went to the zoo.
LB's a few months older this time, and enjoyed the animals much more.
I didn't take any photos this time.
We just enjoyed it.
Our Zoo just had a baby elephant, and LB loved it!
She makes elephant sounds.
I should try to find the video I took of her and post it on here.
I know I told my parents I would send it to them...
Sorry!
I never did, in case you were wondering...

We got our new front door on Wednesday.
That took forever for them to install!
The guy called and said they would be there between 1-2p.
A little after 2:30 they finally showed up, and were there until just about 5p.
So much for THAT day.

Thursday, we purchased some new outside lights
(and a new pantry light - Jerk Face said that was my reward-
- he really knows how to treat me right, you know? HA!)

And that brings me to Friday.

(That is my blankie from when I was little -- I'm letting LB borrow it for a while... when I'm not using it, of course!)
I was on the couch ALL weekend.
I still feel like crap.
I think it's the oxycodone.
It makes me really nauseous. And drowsy.
I don't know why people would take that to get high.
It sucks. BAD.
This afternoon, I thought I would take Tylenol 3.
I was hoping I would be less drowsy...
yeah.
I just slept for 3 hours.
Jerk Face was jealous.

I'm sure he's jealous of my new diet for the week too:

Some of it looks good...
but I just want crunchy!
Jerk Face has been munching on tortilla chips and salsa!
What a jerk...face!!!
*smile*

Sorry this was a bit long and boring!
I hope to have better posts soon!!!

Tofu-ey

I have been wanting to get more healthy... and get Jerk Face healthier... and set a good example for LB.
...And I've been hearing all of these great things about tofu.
I've never had tofu.
Jerk Face claims to have tried it.
He never wanted to try it again.
Too bad, too sad.
I was determined to make it.

So, I scoured the Internet.
(Not really. I just went to my favorite food site: Allrecipes.com)
Searching for an amazing tofu recipe.
I found one.
~Tofu Parmesan~
all of the reviews that I read said that it was amazing.
It tasted like chicken.
"Carnivorous Husband couldn't find the tofu amongst all of the chicken"
That sounded perfect!
I decided to do it.
But I wasn't going to tell Jerk Face that it was tofu.
I knew he wouldn't even give it a chance.

So I told him that I was going to make
"That Parmesan Stuff"
knowing full well that he would assume Chicken Parmesan.
I'm so sneaky.
I wouldn't let him in the kitchen whilst making it.
Which should have been his first clue...

I followed the directions (almost)  to a T.
I was in such a hurry I didn't see the part where I had to flip the tofu over and cook it for 15 more minutes..

When it was finished, it looked and smelled pretty good.
I dished it out, not wanting Jerk Face to see that the chicken was 'weird looking'...
I took a bite and immediately thought:
uh-oh!
Jerk Face took a bite:
"Do you have a place where you keep really good recipes?"
What?!
"Yes. I think, somewhere.."
"You should. This could be something that you make over and over and over again..."
...Maybe the recipe reviews were right?

...and then he took a second bite...
My tofu dreams were squashed.
He just looked at me with disgust.
and asked:

"Why?"

And then I burst out laughing.
But I did feel bad.
..I didn't really care for it either..

I did this a few years ago with eggplant.
That didn't go over to well, either...
maybe I should learn my lesson?

He said he felt
BETRAYED
Our marriage may be over due to tofu.

Would you like the recipe?
Be careful.. It could end marital bliss.

~Tofu Parmesan~

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 5 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano, divided
  • salt to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 (12 ounce) package firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, combine bread crumbs, 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Slice tofu into 1/4 inch thick slices, and place in bowl of cold water. One at a time, press tofu slices into crumb mixture, turning to coat all sides.
  3. Heat oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Cook tofu slices until crisp on one side. Drizzle with a bit more olive oil, turn, and brown on the other side.
  4. Combine tomato sauce, basil, garlic, and remaining oregano. Place a thin layer of sauce in an 8 inch square baking pan. Arrange tofu slices in the pan. Spoon remaining sauce over tofu. Top with shredded mozzarella and remaining 3 tablespoons Parmesan.
  5. Bake at 400 degrees F (205 degrees C) for 20 minutes.

**Note**
I used a garlic pasta sauce instead of tomato sauce.
I also patted off the water and froze the tofu for 30 minutes and then coated it with flour, egg, crumb mixture.
I baked it for 15 minutes on 1 side --  I was SUPPOSED to bake for 15 more minutes on the other side, but missed that part..
Then I put it in my dish and followed from direction #4.

What The Friday?!

Did anything happen to you this week that just made you want to say:

Jerk Face just walked in with a piece of banana bread, and didn't bring me in a piece.
...and when I whined about it.. he handed me the last bite of his -- only to snatch it away..
AND EAT IT IN FRONT OF MY FACE!
what the friday?
(See why I call him 'Jerk Face'?!)

The PBS channel ran a series a while back.
It was:
 Mary and Abraham Lincoln
A House Divided
It was a 6 part series
I recorded them at 4am on Tuesday.
When I went to record the last episode on Tuesday night...
The cold hard truth dawned on me:
 4AM is Monday night, EARLY TUESDAY MORNING!
And?
I missed it.
I will never know who won the Civil War.
what the friday?

The Afterbath

This photo was taken via Jerk Face's iPhone after LB's bath tonight.
I took about a billion.
Jerk Face gets so upset with me when I 'use his phone'...
..because I take a billion photos, and then never delete them.

But how could I delete this face?

Just Small Talk In The Waiting Room

While in a semi-crowded waiting room at a doctor's office, a man walks in...

LB points directly at him and squeals:

"DA-DA!!"

Poor guy didn't know what to say..
Everyone was staring/snickering...
So?
I say the only thing that pops into my head:

"SURPRISE!"

(He MAY have been a doctor... Good choice, LB!)

*I'll be doing my WTF meme on Friday if you want to link up!*

Wannabe S'mores

Last week was National S'more's Day.
I wasn't aware until a little late in the day.
Jerk Face and I decided that we simply must have S'mores on National S'more's Day.

But.

We had a bit of an issue.

We didn't have the proper ingredients to make a S'more.
And it was too late to run to the store.

Have no fear, though.

I put my super s'more making abilities to the test.

We had graham crackers... And so what if they were a little more chewy than crunchy?

We didn't have marshmallows... but we DID have that marshmallow fluff stuff.. because of my fondant excursions...

And, can you believe it? NO DARK CHOCOLATE IN MY HOUSE???
(well.. I had 2 pieces of Dove that Jerk Face wouldn't let me sacrifice... he really loves me!)
Luckily, I DID have some white chocolate... which I love... but I recently learned that it's not even REAL CHOCOLATE!  *GASP!*

So, we put it all together, and what did we get?

Some pretty decent s'more wannabes.

Arts & Crafts

I do a lot of rocking LB to sleep in her room. A LOT.
She's 13 months old, and therefore, after I add it all up, I believe that I have spent 834,729,874 hours in her room. Just rocking and rocking and rocking... maybe a little dozing off here and there, but mostly rocking her to sleep.  At least trying to anyways.

There's not much to look at when I'm rocking her. I have my curtains covering the windows, so I can't look out there.  I am just facing one big giant green wall:

I have an amazing view, no?

SO... I decided to do something about it.
I always knew that I wanted to incorporate a line from one of her books in her room.
It's was the very 1st book I bought her:

The last line in the book reads:

I love all that you will be
and everything you are

So, I have been putting a together an art project in my head.
I bought wooden letters of her name... all nine of them..
Painted them pink.
Bought 4 canvases and knew I wanted the quote to be raised.
So.
I used glue.
When it dried, I tried to build it up higher, by going over it again.
NOT a good idea.
The glue just ran all over the place.
Live and learn, right?
I then tried puffy paint.
Success!
I painted the canvases a light pink and painted white and green polka dots all over.
I then painted the raised letters a different pink color.
And the result?

I know that you can't see the quote on this photo.. sorry!
..also.. no. we never bought that vent cover.
We always forget when we go to a hardware store.
I put it on my newest list of things to do.
(Jerk Face just loves those!)

I feel like it needs something else.. but Jerk Face was tired of it sitting on out kitchen island.
I think it was only there for, like a week.
*sheesh*

What The Friday?!

Have you had little things happen throughout the week, that makes you want to say "WTF?!"

Add my button to your post and link up!

Let me start off my What The Friday by telling you all that I was trying to make my link up picture into a real-life grab button, when that little computer malfunction guy ... You know the one -- if you're a Google Chrome user, that is -- came across my screen:

And then, my computer restarted itself.
May I say it?
what the friday?

So, I did get my button made, I'm not entirely sure if it's right... but I'm okay with it for now. I'm not sure it this P.O.S. computer can handle much more.
(And no, "P.O.S." is not the brand name of my computer.)

And while I was trying to get this post together doing the dishes, LB was doing this:

A Dose of Mommy Medicine

Ahhhh....
I went to an outlet mall this weekend with my sister.
A SHOPPING TRIP THAT WAS MUCH NEEDED!
Not only because I needed clothes, but I NEEDED to get away!

FROM THIS:

Sure. She looks sweet and innocent enough..

Please don't be fooled.

In the days prior to this, she had a fever from her MMR shots...
AND was getting in a molar.

Poor Baby???
No.
Poor Mommy!
This child wouldn't sleep.
(I even resorted to driving around to get her to sleep...
1 hour and 30 minutes of driving... for not quite 30 minutes of sleeping!?!)
Always wanted to be held.
Wouldn't eat.
Didn't play by herself.
Very clingy.
I couldn't go pee without her crying about it!

And Jerk Face has been out of town/working late/doing homework all.of.the.time.

So... Instead of feeling sorry for my baby that was feeling miserable.
Or for my husband that was never home and always super busy.

Maybe you should feel sorry for me.
And not just because I'm slowly going insane...
but because I didn't have many clothes that fit me well.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the days prior to my shopping excursion, I was trying to figure out how much I could spend before Jerk Face would choke on his own vomit when he saw the bill:
"What if I spend $2000*...? That's what my credit limit is..."
..and Jerk Face just laughed and said that he may hurt me...
"What if I only spend $1000...?"
What?! You're crazy!
"Okay... How much can I spend without you having a coronary?"
...You're turning this into a vacation day! It's just shopping!
"It IS kind of like a vacation day for me, Jerk Face!! You just don't want me to spend more than $50!"
(I had my own limit set to $500, but if he was going to go over... then AWESOME!)
No. I want you to have fun... but don't go crazy...
(he is SO scared that I'm going to spend a bazillion dollars!)
"Well, just give me a number that you would faint if I went over..."
(after much sighing... and almost sounding like he's hurting..)
$600.
(pleasantly surprised.)
"So I can spend $500, and you would be okay?"
(There's that hurting sound again...)
Yes.
"$575... That would be okay?"
ugh... yes.
Sometimes I just like to push it.
(and my parents will tell you that I always have...)
***************************************
The final outcome?
I spent about $300.00
(and I assured Jerk Face that I would be spending the rest at a later date)
*smile*
*I never intended to even go NEAR that amount!
What The Friday?!
Like my new photo?
I bought some Rainier cherries at the grocery store this week!
MMMMM!
This was the one I saved for last:
What The Friday?
Also, at the grocery store, I bought some licorice!
I haven't had licorice in FOR.EV.ER!
(Jerk Face was against it, but I won.. by putting it in the cart.)
They are ALL GONE!!!
What The Friday?
I KNOW I didn't eat them all, Jerk Face!
Luckily, I still have my Newman-O's!
he KNOWS better than to touch these!
I WILL bite his hand!
I think these are a suitable breakfast some days....
 I'm a grown-up now! I can do what I want!
*sheesh*
Thursday's Thoughts and Things
LAST DAY TO ENTER MY GIVEAWAY!
*enter here - enter here - enter here - enter here - enter here*
Lately... and I'm not sure why it's been of late -- because I have ALWAYS done this... but! Jerk Face has been getting annoyed with me before bed.
Why?
Because I ... empty my bladder .. before bed.
Every night.
and have done so since...? I don't know....  I was potty trained?
Jerk Face seems to think that normal people stop tinkling before bed when they are twelve. (twelve? Really?!?)
So Ladies (and Gents?) of the Blog World and Beyond...
I pose this question:
Do you still pee before bed.. and if not, when did you stop?
*also.. do you pee before you leave the house?
Maybe it's just a rule that my parents had while we were growing up,
so they didn't have to clean up messes...
And it stuck with me..?
(and maybe Jerk Face should pee before we leave the house,
 so we don't have to stop 10 minutes after we leave....?)
